Chandigarh: Goldy Brar, the mastermind of the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been named in Canada’s list of top 25 most wanted fugitives. Goldy Brar’s name has been added to the list of most wanted fugitives by Interpol-Ottawa. Goldy Brar is believed to be in Canada and poses a risk to public safety, an official release said. The crimes committed by him in India are “very serious in nature”.
“Goldy Brar’s name is also included in the list of Interpol-Ottawa’s Fugitive Apprehension Support Team (FAST). Murder, Criminal Conspiracy & Supply of illegal Firearms, Attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy @ Supply of illegal Firearms, charges have been imposed in the notice.
Canadian police believe that it is in Canada and is a threat to the public.
India has accused him of killing Moosewala, but Canada says he is not charged with any crime in Canada. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Mansa district of Punjab on May 29, 2022.
A day after Moosewala’s murder, Goldy Brar had admitted through a Facebook post that he had conspired to kill Moosewala to avenge the killing of another gangster.
Brar is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is the prime suspect in the murder of the Punjabi rapper. Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, who hail from Punjab’s Muktsar district, became friends in Chandigarh about a decade ago.
Lawrence Bishnoi was in Tihar Jail when Moosewala was killed in May. Goldy Brar works as a trucker before moving to Canada.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had said the state authorities were coordinating with international agencies to nab him. India had also issued a Red Notice against Goldy Brar from Interpol in June 2022.
