Chandigarh: The Punjab Police have booked dismissed AIG Rajjit Singh, who is absconding, under sections of criminal conspiracy, falsification of records and extortion.
In 2017, Inspector Inderjit was arrested in the arms and drugs smuggling case. During the search of his house, AK-47, 4 kg heroin, 3 kg of smack intoxication and other country-made weapons were recovered. Inspector Inderjit Singh was dismissed from his job.
In this case, AIG Rajjit Singh has now been accused of defending sacked inspector Inderjit, presenting false records. There are also allegations of tampering with recovered drugs, promoting Indrajit and trying to defend him in a drug case.
An SIT headed by ADGP RK Jaiswal has been formed to probe the links of jailed sacked inspector Inderjit and AIG Rajjit Singh. RK Jaiswal will investigate the matter within a month and submit his report to the state government, officials said.
STF conducts raids to nab him
A lookout circular has been issued for accused AIG Rajjit Singh. The STF is also conducting raids in various districts to look for him. The vigilance has also seized the service records of accused Rajjeet and Inderjit Singh.
The accused AIG Rajjit Singh and inspector were posted together at many places. From 2012 to 2017, the places where Rajjit Singh was posted also kept Inderjit Singh with him.
For this, Rajjit Singh has been writing recommendation letters and getting Inderjit transferred. Both have been posted simultaneously in Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Moga and Jalandhar districts.
