UnFPA’s ‘The State of World Population Report 2023’, titled ‘8 Billion Lives, Infinite Possibilities: The Case for Rights and Choice’, said India’s population now stands at 1,428.6 million, while China’s population is 1,425.7 million. That is, there has been a difference of 2.9 million in the population of both. The latest figures in the report have been given in the category of ‘Demographic Indicators’.
This is the first time in the UN’s population data records that India’s population has exceeded China’s since 1950, in fact the United Nations was established after World War II ended in 1945 and in 1950 the United Nations started collecting and releasing population data.
