New Delhi: A day after gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and and his brother Ashraf’s murder, a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an investigation into the their murder in police custody.
The petitioner also sought investigation into 183 encounters in Uttar Pradesh since 2017, by an expert committee under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge.
This petition has been filed on behalf of lawyer Vishal Tiwari. The petition has sought setting up of a committee to probe the murder of Atiq and his brother.
The petition also sought a CBI probe into the 2020 Vikas Dubey encounter case. Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to hear a petition raising questions about the security of mafia Atiq Ahmed. The Supreme Court had refused to pass any order on the security of Atiq Ahmed.
