Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s chief of staff offered up a few details today to a House of Commons committee studying foreign interference in the last two elections.

Katie Telford says she was limited on what answers she could provide due to the nature of the issue.

That frustrated Conservatives and New Democrats, who say her lack of answers will erode trust in the federal government.

M-P Michael Cooper says Canadians deserve to hear what Katie Telford knows about specific allegations in recent media reports that China meddled in the past two federal elections.

Telford has repeatedly testified she cannot answer certain questions about intelligence because the matters are extremely sensitive and the law limits what she can talk about in a public setting.

As a senior adviser to Trudeau, Telford has a top-secret security clearance and attends national security briefings with the prime minister. — Canadian Press
