Lucknow: Asad, son of gangster Atiq Ahmed, accused of killing Umesh Pal, who was a key witness in the murder case of former BSP MLA Raju Pal, has been killed in an encounter with the police. Also, shooter Ghulam has also been killed by the police. Both were carrying prizes of Rs 5 lakh each. The police were constantly looking for Asad and other accused.
Police said that Asad was trying to flee from Jhansi to Madhya Pradesh. Asad went to Lucknow after committing Umesh Pal’s murder. From Lucknow to Kanpur, then Meerut, he stayed for about a week there. From Meerut, he went to Sangam Vihar in Delhi. From there, again went to UP and was going to Madhya Pradesh on a motorcycle from Jhansi city, police said.
The UP STF was conducting raids in many areas of Jhansi since night. A member of Atiq’s gang had confronted the police. The encounter took place near Parichha Dam in Barka village of Jhansi at around 12 o’clock in the day. Which is about 7 kilometers away from Jhansi.
12 policemen were involved in this encounter. It also included 2 deputy SPs and 2 inspectors. Two foreign pistols were also recovered from the spot. 40 rounds have been fired during the encounter. The encounter took place on Babina Road in Jhansi.
Opposition targets BJP government
Opposition parties have attacked the Yogi Adityanath government over the incident of Asad’s encounter. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that by conducting false encounters, the BJP government is trying to divert attention from the real issues. The BJP does not believe in the court.
Today’s recent encounters should also be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should not be spared. Power does not have the right to decide right and wrong. BJP is against brotherhood.
Umesh Pal’s mother has welcomed the action taken by the UP STF. Lawyer Umesh Pal’s mother Shanti Devi has said that this is a tribute to my son.
