Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election. The party has fielded former Raikot MLA Inder Iqbal Singh, who quit the Shiromani Akali Dal three days ago, as its candidate.
The BJP posted on its social media accounts a letter declaring Inder Iqbal as its candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election late Wednesday night.
In Punjab, the BJP has bypassed its party cadre and trusted a parachute candidate. Many senior leaders and ticket aspirants are crestfallen with this decision of the leadership, sources said.
