Surrey: A 17-year-old teenager was fatally stabbed in a transit bus on Tuesday. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been investigating the incident.
According to the IHIT, on Tuesday at 9:28 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a man suffering from life-threatening injuries resulting from a stabbing in the in the 9900 block of King George Boulevard.
“Surrey RCMP officers responded along with BC Emergency Health Services and emergency first aid was provided. The victim died as a result of his injuries shortly after being transported to hospital,” the IHIT said in a statement.
IHIT said it has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Surrey RCMP Detachment, BC Coroners Service and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section.
“At this time, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident with no connection to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict. The victim has been identified as a 17-year old boy from Surrey,” the IHIT added.
“We are still in the early stages of the investigation. Investigators are asking any witnesses who have yet to speak with police, to contact IHIT immediately,” said Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.”
