Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday postponed the hearing in the case of Waris Punjab De chief and pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh’s alleged illegal detention by Punjab Police.

Imaan Singh Khara, advocate for pro-Khalistan, failed to present any concrete evidence in the high court under Habeas Coppers to confirm that Amritpal was in illegal police custody.

The lawyer said he has sent his reply to the central government. On this, the High Court said that he should have given his reply to the Punjab government. The high court posted the matter for further hearing on April 24.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had, on the previous hearing in the case, had asked advocate Khara, legal advisor of Waris Punjab De, to produce any evidence to prove Amritpal’s claim of being in illegal police custody.

In the last hearing, the High Court had reprimanded the government and the police on the issue of Amritpal Singh. The High Court asked the police that Amritpal is a threat to the country, so why was he not arrested? How did he escape from the clutches of 80,000 policemen? The High Court had termed it as an intelligence failure of the police.

At the same time, Amritpal Singh had also shared his two videos while he was on the run.
