Chandigarh: Three labourers died after consuming poisonous liquor in Punjab’s Sangrur, the home district of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. All the three labourers are residents of village Namol.

Police said that trio drunk spurious at the same place. They slept at home after drinking late at night. However, they were found dead by their families in the morning.

The deceased have been identified as Gurmail Singh, Gurtej Singh and Chamkaur Singh. Chamkaur Singh’s wife says that her husband used to come after drinking alcohol and go to sleep as usual. But when she picked up the sheet, she found him dead. Chamkaur was the only breadwinner in the house.

Villagers said that pseudo liquor work has been going on in the village for a long time and these laborers have also died after drinking spurious liquor. Accusing the administration, people said that neither the administration is alert about drugs nor any crackdown is being taken on those selling fake liquor.

People have also warned the administration that if action is not taken against the spurious liquor smugglers, then they will launch a protest against the government.

SHO of Cheema police station Lakhbir Singh said that they received information from sarpanch of Namol village, who told that three laborers have died in his village. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. According to the law, action will be taken against whoever is found accused in this matter.
