New Delhi: A delegation of Muslim religious leaders has met Home Minister Amit Shah today and a discussion held on the growing Islamophobia in the country.
The delegation was led by Maulana Mahmood Madani, Kamal Farooqui, Niaz Farooqui and Prof. Akhtarul Wase of the Muslim Personal Law Board.
In the meeting with the Home Minister, the violence in Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra on Ram Navami and the burning of madrasa in Nalanda in Bihar were discussed. There was also a discussion on Kashmir, homosexuality and uniform civil code. The Muslim delegation also gave a presentation to Amit Shah about the problems related to Muslims.
During the meeting, there was also a discussion on the burning of Junaid and Nasir alive in Haryana. At the same time, Muslim religious leaders also spoke about the statements made by BJP leaders in the presence of Home Minister. They said that often the silence of the Centre government hurts sentiments of the Muslim community.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah said that strict action will be taken on cases like lynching and hate speech. The delegation also expressed concern over the abolition of reservation for Pasmanda Muslims in Karnataka.
