Chandigarh: Jasneet Kaur alias Rajveer, an Instagram user who blackmailed businessman Gurbir Singh Garcha, son of a former Akali councillor, was arrested from Mohali by the Model Town police. The court has sent her to two days police custody. Police have also seized her BMW car worth Rs 70 lakh.
The police have also named the girl’s friend and Youth Congress leader Lucky Sandhu, who has been in touch with her for a long time.
According to the police, the arrested Jasneet Kaur had trapped Gurbir through Instagram and later when she grew closer, she demanded extortion money by blackmailing him. The youth had filed a complaint before the police.
When the girl came to collect the money, the police arrested her and registered a case. Her accomplice, Lucky managed to escape by deceiving the police. According to the police, an FIR was lodged in Mohali.
The 22-year-old girl, a resident of Dhuri Sangrur, is a 10th pass, who was inclined to become a model. After the death of her father, two years ago, she came to Chandigarh from her home and started living on rent. However, after not getting much response in modeling, she started using Instagram. When she did not have much followers, she started uploading half-naked obscene photos.
Following time, she gained 2 lakh followers. The police suspect that she had extorted money from several people in the past as well. She had bought a car worth Rs 75 lakh.
According to the police, a big Punjabi hero has also been cheated by Jasneet. He settled the matter by paying Rs 5 lakh to her.
