Indore: Thirty-six devotees, including 21 women and two children, were killed when the floor collapsed during a ‘Havan’ at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple in Sneh Nagar on March 30.

Following this, a large contingent of municipal corporation and police reached the spot today to demolish the illegal construction on Monday. Authorities moved the idols of deities to another shrine before the action.

The action was initiated to demolish the illegal construction of the temple. Heavy force was also deployed here to avoid ruckus or disturbance during the action.

More than five Poclains and JCBs were used to demolish the illegal construction of the temple. Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, EDM and other officials were present on the spot. A force of four police stations has also been deployed to remove encroachments.

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath on Saturday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state, saying if the illegal construction of the complex is not removed within seven days, the Congress will file a PIL in the high court.

Earlier, he visited the injured people in the hospital and also visited the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple in Patel Nagar.
