Ottawa: U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday addressed a joint session of the House of Commons. In his address, Biden said Canada and United States are two nations that share one heart.

He said despite the challenges, he has never been more optimistic about the future.

In his first official visit to Canada since taking office, he spoke about the close ties between the two countries.

He said both countries have safeguarded rights and freedoms in the world.

Biden received thunderous applause from the crowd gathered in the House of Commons when he wrapped his address in Parliament.

The speech included a pledge that the U-S and Canada will continue to stand with Ukraine as it battles Russia’s invasion.

Biden also said he’s “very proud” that both he and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have cabinets that are made up of 50 per cent women.
