Chandigarh: Efforts are on to nab Waris Punjab De Amritpal Singh and police said that he gave the slip to police on a motorcycle after changing his clothes.
In a recent CCTV footage, Amritpal could be seen boarding a Brezza car after changing from Mercedes and his clothes. He later fled wearing an orange turban and fled away on a bike.
The police are investigating the whole matter and those who helped him are also being traced.
According to the information, Amritpal got down in Shahkot in his Mercedes car and he boarded the Brezza car of one of his associates. He took off his robe and fled with three of his colleagues in two motorcycles wearing a pant shirt.
Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has reprimanded the Punjab Police in the case of Amritpal Singh. “Punjab Police has 80,000 personnel, yet how is Amritpal absconding? What were your 80,000 policemen doing? The court said that this is an intelligence failure of the Punjab Police.
During the hearing, the Punjab Police told the court that NSA has also been imposed on Amritpal Singh and it has so far arrested more than 120 associates of Amritpal. The court said that it doesn’t believe in the police story. The court has asked the Punjab Police to file a status report.
According to police sources, the National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked against two more associates of Amritpal. Two of Amritpal’s associates Kulwant Singh and Gur Aujla have now been charged with the NSA. Both of them have been arrested and sent to Dibrugarh in Assam.
