Chandigarh: The uncle and driver of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh have surrendered today. Uncle Harjeet Singh and driver Harpreet surrendered themselves in Mehatpur police station in Punjab.
On Saturday, when the police were chasing the Khalistani leader and his associates, Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjeet Singh was driving a Mercedes. Harjeet Singh said he and Amritpal parted ways while chasing 15-16 km.
Four top aides of Amritpal Singh were arrested and taken to Dibrugarh in Assam, charged under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
So far, the police have arrested 112 associates of Amritpal Singh, of whom 34 were arrested on Sunday. Several members of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ group have been detained for questioning.
Among those arrested is Daljit Singh Kalsi, who handles Amritpal Singh’s finances.
Sources said the police have launched a massive manhunt to nab Amritpal, who was last seen speeding away on a motorcycle in Jalandhar on Saturday evening. Police seized his car in which several dozen live cartridges were found.
