Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that new affordability criteria will be included in the 2023 federal budget to help Canadians reeling under inflation.
Speaking to reporters at Newfoundland and Labrador on Wednesday, Trudeau said the inclusion of these criteria in the budget would directly help Canadians.
Recently, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh called for an extension of a temporary GST rebate and said that some special measure must be included in the budget.
Trudeau said that when it comes to affordability, the pressure on Canadians increases significantly. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland had announced on Friday that she would present the budget on March 28.
Trudeau said the 2023 budget will also include deals recently finalized with provinces and territories. Along with this, new employment opportunities will also be created for Canadians across the country.
Trudeau also expressed hope that by this summer, the inflation crisis will also be controlled to a great extent.
