New Delhi: The value of land allegedly acquired by Lalu Yadav’s family in the land case for job during his tenure as railway minister is currently around Rs 200 crore, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said in a statement today.

The central agency has also released a long list of other assets accusing Lalu Prasad’s family of corruption and said that this property too was acquired by the Yadav family through that scam.

In a statement, the ED said the PMLA investigation conducted so far has revealed that several lands were illegally acquired at prominent places in Patna and other areas by the family of the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in lieu of getting them jobs in the railways.

The current market value of these land parcels is more than Rs 200 crore. In this regard, several benamidars, shell entities and beneficial owners of these lands have also been identified. Based on specific intelligence inputs in the Railway Land for Jobs scam, searches were conducted at 24 locations in Delhi NCR, Patna, Mumbai and Ranchi.

The searches have resulted in the recovery of unaccounted cash worth Rs 1 crore, foreign currency including USD 1,900, 540 grams of gold coins and over 1.5 kg of gold jewellery (valued at about Rs 1.25 crore). Several other incriminating documents, including various property documents, sale works etc. have been recovered.

The raids have resulted in the detection of proceeds of crime amounting to around Rs 600 crore which is in the form of immovable assets worth Rs 350 crore and transactions worth Rs 250 crore have been made through various benamidars.

Tejashwi Yadav was summoned by the CBI to its Delhi office on Saturday in connection with the land-for-job scam.

In this case, Lalu Yadav and his entire family are under the CBI investigation. Earlier on February 4, Tejashwi Yadav was summoned by the CBI for investigation, but he did not reach Delhi citing the assembly session.

This time Tejashwi Yadav has written a letter to the CBI seeking postponement of the summons citing his wife’s health.
