Ottawa: Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said she will table the 2023 federal budget on March 28.
The announcement comes as the Canadian economy is expected to slow significantly this year, potentially even entering a recession.
Freeland has stressed that the Liberal government is focused on fiscal restraint.
The government has been facing mounting pressure to rein in spending after years of deficits that have piled onto the nation’s debt.
While making an announcement in this regard, she wrote on her Twitter that their plan is to make life more affordable, strengthen public health care, and create good middle class jobs in a growing, clean economy.
