Chandigarh: A heated debate broke out between Congress and AAP MLAs on the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case in the House on Thursday.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and AAP ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer exchanged heated arguments.
Warring during the question hour raised the issue of Moosewala’s murder case. He said Sidhu’s parents were sitting on a sit-in outside the Assembly demanding justice. He said that even though the Punjab government arrested many accused. He asked why the Punjab government was not arresting the gangsters and accused whose names Sidhu’s parents are giving for leaking list of pruning security of Moosewala on the social media.
AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said he met Sidhu Moosewala’s father and CM Mann also met him and assured to deliver justice. He alleged that Congress and SAD leaders have politicised the deaths of thousands of people. After this, AAP MLAs shouted slogans against the Congress.
AAP Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer presented a crime record of the last 12 years in Punjab. He said that during the tenure of AAP government, the state has witnessed the second lowest number of criminal incidents in 2022. But the opposition is defaming AAP every day. He accused Congress leaders of patronising gangsters.
Criminals coming from Haryana
Hayer said that people who commit crimes in Punjab are coming from BJP-ruled states. “BJP governments have become nurseries. Those who commit crimes in UP and Rajasthan go from Haryana.”
Meet Hayer said that Congress youth chief Gurlal Brar, Vicky Midukhera were killed. Sukha Kalwan was murdered in police custody. Crime had happened in the past but now an attempt is being made to defame Punjab government.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition from Congress Pratap Singh Bajwa has said that until CM Mann apologizes to his house colleagues for his objectionable attitude, Congress MLAs will boycott the House proceedings when he arrives. Before that, Congress MLAs are present in the House.
