Mandi: Tourists from Punjab created a ruckus in Manikaran, on late on Sunday night in which five people were reportedly injured, local media reported.

Tourists damaged 12 vehicles after the clash with locals. Stones were also pelted at many houses by angry mob.

According to eyewitnesses, some youth created an atmosphere of panic in the market at night. They beat up locals and smashed bottles all along the way.

Earlier on Sunday, Punjabi tourists had created a ruckus at the Green Tax Barrier in Manali over the payment of green tax and raised slogans by parking about 100 motorcycles. The SDM had to reach the spot to calm the matter here.

People have demanded that strict action should be taken on this matter. They have sought protection from the police administration.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kullu Ashish Sharma said that at 12 o’clock in the night, people from Punjab created ruckus and vandalized some vehicle. Five people were injured while 12 vehicles were damaged. Police are investigating the case and extract cause of the matter is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, DGP of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab discussed the matter and both said that the situation is under control in Manikaran and there is no threat to public safety.
