Chandigarh: Two gangsters linked to the Moosewala murder case were killed after a clash broke out between two groups of gangsters at the Central Jail, Sri Goindwal Sahib, police said.

According to sources, the gangsters associated with the Moosewala murder case, who are lodged in jail, had been at loggerheads with the other group for the past several days. The clash turned into a bloody clash on Sunday.

Five others were injured in the clash. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Tarn Taran.

The deceased have been identified as Mandeep Singh Toofan and Manmohan Singh Mohana, who were named in the murder case of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Shubh Moosewala.

SHO Rajinder said that two gangsters were killed in the bloody clash in the jail, while the gangster named Keshav was taken to Amritsar as his condition was critical. The remaining injured gangsters were admitted to a hospital in Tarn Taran.

The exact cause of the clash is yet to be ascertained and is being probed, he said. On the other hand, the jail authorities are tight-lipped about the sharp weapons reaching the accused lodged in the jail.

Meanwhile, gangster Goldy Brar has claimed responsibility for the incident by posting a post on social media, but it has not been officially confirmed.
