Chandigarh: The feud between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Governor BL Purohit has accelerated further. Now, the Punjab Governor has refused to approve the budget session of the Assembly in a letter written by CM Bhagwant Mann.

The Governor said that he would take a decision on the request to call the budget session only after taking legal opinion on the letter and tweet sent to him by CM Mann on February 13.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has termed the letter written to him by CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann as unconstitutional and defamatory.

He has also said that he will seek legal opinion in the matter and only then respond to his letter.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann came face to face on the issue of sending Punjab government teachers to Singapore for training. Without naming the governor, Mann had also said that the decisions of Punjab will be taken by the elected people and not appointed by Centre.

CM Mann had also sent a letter to the Governor on February 13. “I want to make it clear that I and my government are accountable to 3 crore Punjabis. You have asked me on what basis have you selected teachers for training in Singapore? The people of Punjab want to ask on what basis governors are elected in different states by the central government without any clear qualifications in the Indian Constitution.”

It is clear that in the coming days, the tussle between the government and CM Punjab is going to intensify more than ever.
