Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has formed a five-member committee to probe the encroachment of Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi and Sikh Mission office in Haryana by the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) with the help of local police.
The team will visit the Kurukshetra to gauge the situation today. The SGPC also held an emergency meeting of the internal committee was convened by the SGPC yesterday to discuss this serious matter.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said a five-member committee will take stock of the incident at the gurdwara.
After the committee’s report, the Akal Takht will be requested for further action. The five-member committee comprises SGPC senior vice-president Baldev Singh Kaimpura, junior vice-president Avtar Singh Riya, general secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, interim members Jarnail Singh Kartarpur and Bawa Singh Gumanpura.
Taking strong note of the high-handedness and violation of Sikh maryada, the Antaring Committee has asked the Haryana government to stop interfering in the management of the gurdwara.
He said that when the Sangat of Haryana reached the Gurdwara to protest against the action, they were arrested after lathi-charging.
He alleged that the police personnel had committed gross violation of maryada by entering the parikrama of the gurdwara with shoes.
Dhami said the opinion of legal experts will be taken against the illegal nomination of the ad-hoc committee.
