New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been summoned by the CBI in connection with the excise policy case.

Giving information about this, Sisodia said on Monday that on February 26, the CBI has again called for questioning. He said that he will go for questioning.

Earlier, the CBI had summoned Manish Sisodia on Sunday. Manish Sisodia had requested the CBI to give more time to finalise the budget. The CBI accepted his request to seek more time to join the probe and has now issued summons for a fresh date.

“I had received a notice from the CBI that they wanted to inquire about the excise policy. Because it’s the last week of February, it’s a very important time for me. Delhi’s annual budget is being prepared. It is in the final stage.

“I have sought time from him till February-end so that the budget can be finalised. After that, either at the end of February or after whenever they want to call, I will answer all their questions related to excise policy. I have always supported them and will continue to do so.”

He said, “I am sure the CBI officers will understand that as the Finance Minister, my role in finalising the budget is very important.”

Manish Sisodia was summoned for questioning on Sunday, nearly three months after the charge sheet was filed in the case. Sisodia has not been named as an accused in the charge sheet as investigations against him and other suspects are still underway.

In August last year, the CBI had also carried out searches at Sisodia’s Punjab National Bank locker in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 money laundering case, where according to him, the CBI had not found anything.

According to a CBI official, multiple raids were conducted last year at 21 locations in several states, including Sisodia’s residence. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry into the matter.
