Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann arrived in Ludhiana on Monday. He inaugurated the 225 MLD capacity Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Jamalpur.
CM Mann said that it is our duty to keep the air, land and water clean. The Chief Minister said that it is the negligence of the previous governments that this plant was inaugurated many times, but the work was not done. The previous governments did not think about the health of the people, due to which the people of the area are forced to drink polluted water.
The British used to punish the patriots with black water, but after independence, our governments are now punishing black water in the homes of their people.
Bhagwant said that he had also raised the issue of Budha Nala in Parliament. It is polluting the Sutlej. This water goes up to Fazilka, where the situation is very bad.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this project is worth Rs 650 crores. Rs 392 crores were invested by the Punjab government and Rs 258 crore will be sent by the central government. Municipal Corporation Ludhiana will invest Rs 320.80 crore for its maintenance for the next 10 years. An 11-km-long pipe will be laid.
