Chandigarh: On the lines of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the security of his wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur has been increased. Earlier, about 15 police personnel were deployed for the security of Dr. Gurpreet Kaur. According to the new orders, her security has been upgraded and 40 cops will give her protection.
Police officials said that when Gurpreet Kaur used to go to attend an event, people would break her security cordon. In view of this, her security circle has been strengthened.
ADGP AK Pandey, who is in charge of the Special Protection Unit, has ordered all district police chiefs to make additional security arrangements for the chief minister’s wife whenever she visits a district to attend an event. There should not be any lapse in their security.
In his letter issued on February 6, the ADGP said that when the CM’s wife Kaur goes out on a tour, 15 additional soldiers in two police gypsies and a Scorpio will accompany her on the road. These soldiers will be provided with CM security. All of them will provide security in the inner circle.
The letter also states that when the CM’s wife will have programs at different places on the same day, 20 to 26 soldiers will walk separately in convoys in buses and other trains at the district level.
