Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the parole granted to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim.
Hearing the matter, the court issued notices to Haryana, Punjab, central government and Rohtak jail authority including Ram Rahim and sought their replies.
Giving information about this, SGPC Advocate Prem Singh Hundal said that the petition had said that parole should not be granted to such a big criminal and it could disturb peace in Punjab.
“Why parole has been granted to a person who is facing serious cases like murder and rape? Ram Rahim has also played a role in the sacrilege in Punjab. There is a lot of anger among the Sikhs due to the parole given to Ram Rahim. This matter can disturb law and order situation in the state, “the SGPC said in its plea to the High Court.
