Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim singh has received a big relief after Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has withdrawn its petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking cancellation of parole on Monday.
The petition has been withdrawn after the HC raised objections to the SGPC’s petition. However, it is being claimed by the SGPC that soon a new petition will be filed by removing the shortcomings in the petition.
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted a 40-day parole on January 21. At present, the Dera chief is living in Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram in Barnawa in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He was granted a 40-day parole three months ago.
The SGPC has been protesting since Ram Rahim was granted parole. SGPC President advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami alleged that Ram Rahim was inciting the faith of Sikhs by coming out on parole.
Along with this, it had said that Ram Rahim was granted parole 4 times in a year while Sikhs prisoners have been languishing in jails even after completing their sentences.
Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, who is serving a life sentence in the murder case of Sadhvi sexual abuse, Chhatrapati Ramchandra and Ranjit, was granted 21-day furlough and 70-day parole for the first time in 2022.
