Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau questioned former chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and former SAD minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, in alleged multi-crore scam in the irrigation department during the SAD-BJP government.

The two men have appeared before the vigilance officer for the second time in connection with the probe into the scam.

This is the second time that the two persons have appeared before the vigilance officer in connection with the probe into the scam.

Taking forward the probe in the case, Kaushal and Sekhon were summoned to give details of their bank accounts and properties. The investigating officers of the Vigilance also asked questions related to the scam.

According to senior officials of the department, both of them have given details of their bank accounts and properties, but the Vigilance has also asked them to give details of bank accounts and property of the family members, especially the wife and children.

Vigilance officials said further action would be taken after collecting details of all the family members. These details are being sought because often politicians and officers buy property in the name of their wives or children while in office or money is kept in the bank.

The development comes a day after Akali leader and former minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and retired IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu appeared before the vigilance officer.

Meanwhile, retired officer KBS Sidhu has been summoned to appear before it tomorrow. During the SAD-BJP government in Punjab, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Janmeja Singh Sekhon have been ministers in the department from time to time, while Sarvesh Kaushal, K.B.S. Sidhu and Kahan Singh Pannu have held the posts of principal secretary and secretary of the department.

Kaushal was given the charge of the post of secretary of the irrigation department even though he was the chief secretary of the state by the SAD-BJP government.
