Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has changed the traditional custom of government diaries. The government diary released every year had the logo of the Punjab government, but this time the diary released by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has his own photo instead of the lion logo of the Punjab government.
He has put his photo between the right and left between the photo of Shaheed-Azam Bhagat Singh and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. CM’s photo on the government diary triggered a series of criticisms in political circles and AAP received backlash on the social media.
Photos on diary, not in offices
When Bhagwant Mann took oath as chief minister, he had issued orders to all government offices that no one would put his photo in the offices. There will be only 2 photos in government offices. One will be a photo of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and the other of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, but now the photo has been put on the diary of the officers.
Punjab politics has heated up after the chief minister’s photo was put on the government diary for the first time. The Congress MLA from Bholath, who was earlier part of the Aam Aadmi Party, has slammed Bhagwant Mann.
“He @BhagwantMann use to repeatedly make fun of Badals & Capt for putting their photos on govt schemes like ambulances, cycles etc but he has broken their record of cheapness to now paste his pic on 2023 govt diary which no Cm had done before! Typical politician changing colors!,” he wrote on Twitter.
Congress and Akali Dal also slammed the CM Mann while the ruling party also receiving criticism from people on the social media.
