New Delhi: Two fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force have crashed. The fighters have a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage 2000. Both aircraft crashed during training exercises.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been briefed by the IAF chief on the crash of two Indian Air Force aircraft. According to sources, one of the three pilots has died. Both Sukhoi pilots are safe.
“Two fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Gwalior this morning. The aircraft were on a routine operational flight training mission. One of the three pilots involved suffered fatal injuries. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted, “The news of the crash of Sukhoi-30 and Mirage-2000 aircraft of the Air Force near Kolaras in Morena is very sad. I have directed the local administration to cooperate with the IAF in quick rescue and relief work. I pray to God for the safety of the pilots of the aircraft.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been briefed about the crash of two Indian Air Force aircraft by the IAF chief, defence ministry sources said. The defence minister enquired about the skills of the IAF pilots and is closely monitoring the developments. He spoke to the collector.
