New Delhi: Retail inflation has declined in December. Retail inflation fell to a one-year low of 5.72 per cent in December 2022 from 5.88 per cent in November.
Retail inflation may have declined in December 2022, but it is still higher than December 2021, when retail inflation was 5.66 percent.
Inflation rate of food items has come down. Inflation in food articles eased to 4.19 per cent in December from 4.67 per cent in November 2022. While food inflation was 7.01 percent in October.
At the same time, food inflation has come down in both urban as well as rural areas in December.
Inflation in rural areas was 5.05 per cent in December, up from 5.22 per cent in November. In urban areas, food inflation stood at 2.80 per cent as against 3.69 per cent in November. The rate of price rise in vegetables and vegetables has come down to 15.08 percent. So the inflation rate of fruits has been 2 percent.
Inflation in milk and dairy products remained at 8.51 per cent, egg inflation at 6.91 per cent and spices at 20.35 per cent.
