Sangrur: Five labourers were killed on Monday morning at Shelar village in Chatta Nanhera village of Sunam tehsil of Sangrur district. While one unconscious labourer is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Ant Kumar, Radhe Sada, Sachin Kumar, Satwan Kumar and Narayan Sada, all residents of Bihar.
At the same time, the worker undergoing treatment has been identified as Rudal Sada. All are said to be related to each other.

All five died of suffocation caused by gas formed by ring smoke in Sheller’s room. The accident came to light when the employees who reached Shelar knocked on the door of the workers’ room. When no one responded for a long time, the door was broken and all the workers were seen lying unconscious in the room. The employees informed the police.

Policemen from the local police station immediately reached the spot and the labourers were rushed to the local hospital. The doctor declared him dead. Police have closely investigated the spot. No case has been registered against anyone by the police.
According to the information, all the workers had lit a ring to protect themselves from the cold in the room at around 12 o’clock on the night of January 8. They locked the door of the room, while there was no way for ventilation from any other place.
In such a situation, there was a shortage of oxygen due to the formation of gas pressure from the smoke of the ring. All the workers fell asleep and died. FSL experts, including the local police station, have also reached the information of the accident. The matter is currently under investigation.
