Ontario: Many people in Ontario and Quebec are living without electricity since last week’s fierce winter storms. Thousands of Canadians are forced to spend another day in cold and dark, despite continued efforts by the crews of Hydro Quebec and Hydro One to restore power.

As of Monday evening, 42,000 customers of Hydro-Quebec and 11,000 customers of Hydro One had to run out without electricity.

Meanwhile, New Brunswick Power restored power to most people suffering from the storm as of Monday evening. The company says it was the deadliest of storms in the province in the past 25 years.

The company also said that power supply could not be started for 300 customers till Monday evening despite all efforts.

Hydro One said power supply has been restored to 430,000 customers since the storm began. But the agency says its staff is finding it difficult to work due to the closure of roads. Environment Canada has issued a warning of snow in some areas of the region from Tuesday afternoon.

It is also likely to reduce visibility. The weather agency also issued a warning of a drop in temperature and increasing cold in many parts of the country in the coming days.
