Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has indicated that he will now focus more on funding infrastructure projects instead of humanitarian aid in developing countries.

In an interview, Trudeau said that even in his conversations with the Global South, he has made it clear how you can invest in renewable energies that will last for the next 20 years, and very little of this will be spent on humanitarian development.

He also asked how such a flexible infrastructure can be created that’s not going to be wiped out by the next hurricane or landslide and in the next storm.

“The issue of negotiations is changing now, but we will always be there to invest in the Global South,” Trudeau said.

Canada’s humanitarian aid sector is also closely monitoring the next spring budget and wants to see how the Liberals deliver on their promise to further increase humanitarian spending each year.
