Jalandhar: People of Latifpura took out a protest rally in the city in association with farmers’ organisations and social organisations to protest against government’s demolition drive.

During the protest rally, slogans were raised against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Jalandhar Improvement Trust Chairman Jagtar Singh Sanghera.

In Latifpura, office-bearers and workers of various farmers and social service organizations started gathering in the morning. In Latifpura, an effigy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and chairman of Jalandhar Improvement Trust were burnt.

Farmers belonging to different organizations had arrived with tractors to participate in the protest rally. Apart from this, many social workers came on vehicles and bikes.

Many women including elderly, joined the rally with flags in their hands on foot. It led to traffic snarl at different locations in the city.

Intensify their struggle, they have announced to block highways from January 1 if the government did not accept their demands and their houses were not rebuilt in Latifpura.

Earlier, people rejected the proposal to give flats in the city by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government.
