New Delhi: A massive row erupted in the Parliament on Tuesday over the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s dog remarks’. The BJP is demanding an apology from the Congress president. However, Kharge refused to apologize for his statement, saying that he still stands by his words.

A day earlier, Congress veteran Kharge questioned the BJP’s role in independence, which has now come into controversy.

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, Kharge said, “We (Congress party) gave freedom to the country and Indira and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the unity of the country. Our party leaders gave their lives, what did you do? Did any of your dogs die for the country? Has any family member from your house made sacrifice?”

The BJP describes itself as very patriotic and labels us anti-nationals whenever we say anything. He said that such a situation is prevailing at present, this is the situation of the country. During this, he lashed out at the BJP. There is a fierce uproar in both houses of Parliament on this statement.

The ruling party MPs were constantly creating ruckus. They were demanding an apology. Due to the ruckus, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 11.30 am.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal described Kharge’s language as indecent. On the one hand, the BJP is attacking the opposition on the issue of Kharge. At the same time, in the proceedings of Parliament so far, the opposition is engaged in surrounding the government over the debate on the issue of China, due to which the government seems to be avoiding.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, “I strongly condemn the kind of language used by the Congress president in Alwar. It is wrong to say that there was only Congress in the freedom struggle, after independence, Gandhiji himself said that Congress should be abolished.”

BJP MPs said that Congress is now Italian Congress party and, Kharge is a rubber stamp president. His statement shows his narrow mind set. We condemn his statement. Everyone knows how the Congress has treated leaders like Subhas Chandra Bose and Tilak.
