Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has returned from abroad after almost a year. He is expected to join the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
The yatra will enter Punjab around January 10. Pictures of Channi, who returned to India last week, holding meetings with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi in Delhi have now surfaced.
He is likely to return to Punjab in the coming days.
After Congress debacle in the state assembly elections early this year, Channi had gone to foreign country and had not returned to Punjab ever since even opposition including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took jibe at his ‘political exile’ from the state politics after losing from his both assembly seats.
Sources said that the former chief minister’s concern may increase due to the action of the Vigilance Bureau. The vigilance is likely to question him in connection with an illegal mining case involving his nephew.
