Chandigarh: The Punjab government has sent a panel sought by Governor BL Purohit for appointment of new SSP of Chandigarh, sais CM Bhagwant Mann during a press conference at Lachowal toll plaza on Thursday.

He said the Punjab government has good relations with Governor B L Purohit. Sometimes there could be disagreement over some issues, but there is nothing to resent.

A panel named 3 has been sent to the UT Administration by the CM Mann Government. The panel includes 2012 batch IPS Sandeep Garg, 2012 batch IPS Akhil Chaudhary and 2013 batch IPS officer Meena. However, earlier, the name of IPS Nanak Singh was also discussed in the panel. Now Punjab Governor and UT Administrator BL Purohit has to decide on one name.

On December 12, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator B L Purohit had deported Punjab cadre IPS, SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal. Chahal has been deported 10 months before the completion of his service period under the charge of misconducting.

This was objected to by the Punjab government. In this regard, CM Bhagwant Mann had also written a letter to the MHA, including the Punjab Governor.

AAP Party spokesman Malvinder Kang has said that important government decisions should not be taken over the phone. He has said that such decisions should be taken through proper communication.

Currently, Haryana cadre IPS Manisha Chaudhary has officiating charge of Chandigarh SSP.
