Chandigarh: A day after the killing of Punjab Police protectee, Timmy Chawla (39), a cloth merchant, by unidentified assailants, his gunman Mandeep Singh was also succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Timmy was shot dead in Nakodar last night for not paying a ransom of Rs 30 lakh while Mandeep succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a private hospital today.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared the post on his Twitter account and wrote, “Salute to martyr Constable Mandeep Singh who has made the supreme sacrifice in line of duty.Punjab government will make extra-gratia payment of Rs 1 crores.Another Rs 1 crore insurance payment will be made by HDFC Bank.”
Meanwhile, opposition also attacked Aam Aadmi Party government for deteriorating law and order situation.
Akali leader Bikram Majithia said, Situation of Punjab! Threats to businessmen, extortion and then murder! The police constable was also murdered! Is this the change? Bhagwant Mann was claiming. Mann is failing to prevent rising terror of gangsters. The government has completely failed to control the law and order situation in Punjab.”
