Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party, which boasts of zero-tolerance policy on corruption, is on the back foot in a viral purported extortion audio clip of AAP Punjab cabinet minister Fauja Singh Sarari. The party had sent notice to the minister after the the audio clip gone viral, however, the minister did not respond to it and no action has been taken into the case.
In September 2022, an audio clip of Sarari and his OSD Tarsem Kapoor allegedly planning to extort money from transporters went viral. But the AAP government has maintained silence after issuing a notice to Sarari. Other parties, including the opposition Congress, are continuously raising their voice demanding Sarari’s resignation.
In the viral clip, Sarari is allegedly talking about trapping hired contractors to transport food to recover money.
Significantly, this clip was leaked by disgruntled Tarsem Kapoor himself as Sarari was not protecting one of his close aides from the police. When the audio went viral, Tarsem had said that this is not the first time Sarari has committed corruption, he has more evidence against him.
