Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has launched a signature campaign across Punjab from December 1 for the release of Sikh prisoners.

Under this series, this campaign started after offering prayers at Takht Kesgarh Sahib.

On this occasion, jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Dhami and a large number of people gathered in large numbers to fill the forms for the release of Sikh prisoners.

SGPC President Dhami said that a signature campaign has been launched after offering prayers at Takht Kesgarh Sahib on Thursday for the release of the Sikh prisoners, who have been languishing in jails for the last several years, who have completed their sentences, which will be taken to every city, every village, every mohalla and every house.

He said that if the sleeping government of the Center still does not wake up, then if need be, there will be a big struggle by the nation for the release of the Sikh prisoners.

He appealed to the people of all faiths, all Sikh community and people of all walks of life to rise above religion, caste and any discrimination and join hands with the SGPC on the issue of Sikh prisoners. Dhami said he would also take up the issue with the International Human Rights Commission if required.
