Chandigarh: A Panjab University (PU) student has been arrested on charges of terror funding. The accused has been identified as Arshdeep Singh, originally from Bhawanigarh in Sangrur, who is pursuing M.A. from PU.
The accused has been arrested from Chandigarh by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) on secret information. The accused is an accomplice of gangsters, police said.
The SSOC has found in the investigation that the accused Arshdeep is an associate of gangster Lakhbir Landa and Lawrence gang member Goldy Brar. The investigating agency is currently trying to find out how many other people the network of the accused is connected to and what conspiracy he was trying to carry out.
ISI operatives deposit money in Arshdeep’s account
The investigating agency has found that money was being deposited in the bank account of Arshdeep Singh by ISI operatives. He has been arrested only on the basis of his bank account information. The accused was being terror funded through sleeper cells working in Dubai, the US, philippines, Italy and the US, originally from Punjab, for ISI, which is working.
Accused’s 3-day remand
The SSOC has obtained a 3-day remand from the court to interrogate the accused. In the upcoming investigation, efforts are on to find out how much funding has been done in the account of accused Arshdeep Singh where he spent it. Investigations have revealed that the accused was in touch with gangsters Goldie Brar and Lakhbir Landa for a long time.
Goldie Brar had claimed responsibility for Sidhu Moosewala murder case
Accused Lakhbir Singh Landa is the main accused in the RPG attack on intelligence headquarters in Mohali district of Punjab. Jailed gangster Lawrence’s accomplice Goldy Brar is in Canada.
He has also claimed responsibility for murder cases in Punjab in the past. Brar had taken responsibility for the murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on social media. He had described the murder as revenge for Vicky Middukhera’s murder.
