New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched the country’s first privately-built rocket ‘Vikram-S’. This rocket (Vikram-S) has been made by Skyroot Aerospace Company based in Hyderabad.

Vikram-S was launched today from Satish Dhawan Space Center located in Sriharikota. This mission was named ‘Aarambh’. It will also give new heights to the entry of the private sector in the country’s space industry.

The rocket ‘Vikram-S’ is named after India’s great scientist and ISRO founder Dr Vikram Sarabhai.

Pawan Goenka, chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACE), said it is a big leap for the private sector in India.

He congratulated Skyroot on becoming the first Indian company to be authorised to launch a rocket.

India is going to create history by launching the first private rocket developed by ‘Skyroot Aerospace’ from Sriharikota under ISRO guidelines, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said.
