Jalandhar: The income tax department’s raid in Punjab’s Jalandhar continued for the second day on Friday.
Income Tax department teams are conducting search operations at the premises of Sheetal Vij, property dealer Chander Agarwal and liquor baron Pawan Kapoor.
Even this morning, central forces personnel were standing outside the institutions of businessmen and income tax officials were busy scanning records inside.
The businessmen whose houses the Income Tax Department has conducted search operations are partners in the cable network. No official information about the raid has been released so far.
The team took possession of the record
The IT Department has conducted search operations in the offices, factories and institutions of the three businessmen as well as the offices of their relatives. A search operation is underway at 16 places in the city. Late in the night, the Income Tax Department team has also searched the house of a nearby property dealer Chander in Defense Colony. He has also been questioned by income tax officials and some records have been seized.
According to the sources the search operation of the Income Tax Department may continue tomorrow as well.
Meanwhile, raid was conducted at the residence of Sheetal Vij, owner of Sheetal Fibres in front of Gymkhana Club, office at Skylark Chowk, factories in industrial area.
The other teams reached Chander Agarwal’s Makhdoompura office, GTB Nagar. Along with this, raids have also been conducted in Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar and Ashok Nagar. Both these places are occupied by employees of companies. Along with these, raids have been conducted at the office of the liquor syndicate in Defence Colony.
Teams of Joint Director Investigation Rishi Kumar, Deputy Director Sahil Kumar have been involved in Ludhiana. Till late in the night, the teams checked paper and business records, sources said.
