Ontario: A leaked report, painting a grim picture of the healthy system, has revealed the deteriorating state of the health care system in Ontario. Doctors have warned that if no action is taken, this health system will soon collapse.
The Ontario Health Report, obtained by Liberal MPP, revealed how long people are having to wait for hospitalization later this year compared to the summer. In September, 90 per cent of patients in emergency rooms had to wait for 12 hours for treatment, up 17 per cent from the same month last year, the report said.
Once a patient is admitted, it took 90 per cent of them 45 hours to complete their visit, an increase of 40.5 per cent over the previous year.
Liberal health critic Dr. Adil Shamji said that this was the worst record of the month of September since 2008. The report also said that patients coming by ambulance also had to wait for 90 minutes to reach the hospital bed.
This record was 50 percent higher than the previous year. Shamji said that despite all this, the Ford government is saying that everything is good, while everything is falling out of their hands like sand, Sharmji said.
