Chandigarh: The Akali Dal has announced the name of its candidate for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections. Party president Sukhbir Badal has once again stamped the name of advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. Party speaker Daljit Singh Cheema tweeted and shared the name of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Cheema said that SAD President S Sukhbir S Badal after wider consultations with SGPC Members & senior leaders of the party announced that S Harjinder Singh Dhami will be SAD’s candidate for the post of President for the Nov 9 annual election of SGPC.
Action being taken against Bibi Jagir Kaur
On the other hand, Bibi Jagir Kaur has announced to stand as a candidate contrary to the decision of the Akali Dal. Despite the pressure, she has not changed her decision. For the Akali Dal, Bibi jagir has become a challenge and is constantly meeting with the members.
DSGMC also in favour of Bibi Jagir Kaur
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has also come out in favour of Bibi Jagir Kaur. After Bibi Jagir Kaur’s attempts to get expelled from the Akali Dal, the DSGMC stood in her support. DSGMC office-bearers issued a statement that this is the occasion when SGPC can be made cloud-free. For this, all the members were also advised to unite.
