Lucknow: Taking a big decision in a corruption case, the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh has demoted Vidya Kishore Sharma to inspector rank, who was posted as CO (Deputy SP) in UP Police. Also, he has been attached to the DGP office.

The Home Department has given information about this action by CM Yogi through a tweet. The then CO Rampur Vidya Kishore Sharma was accused of taking bribe. He did not take proper action in a rape case. He was also suspended in December 2021 in the same case.

After the ongoing inquiry, the Yogi government has decided to demote the then CO Vidya Kishore Sharma to inspector rank.

According to the information, a woman had accused former Ganj Kotwal Ramveer Singh and the operator of a hospital of rape. After this, a bribe of Rs 5 lakh was given by the accused for not writing the woman’s report and suppressing the case.

The video of the then CO Vidya Kishore Sharma accepting the bribe amount had also gone viral. After this, the woman pleaded with the Chief Minister and threatened to commit suicide. Following this, DSP was suspended and a departmental investigation was initiated.

SP Ashok Kumar Shukla said that a charge sheet has been filed against the then CO Vidya Kishore Sharma. At the same time, an investigation is going on against him at the government level.
