Chandigarh: Former minister and senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia has raised questions over Bibi Jagir Kaur’s election as the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and her statement that she would contest that election.

Majithia asked Bibi Jagir Kaur to explain that when she had become the president in the past, was the practice of envelopes going on.

Talking to reporters at Lodhinangal Pohhe village of former Batala MLA Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal, Bikram Singh Majithia said that every time the SGPC president is elected, it is decided with the consent of all the members.

The notion of an enveloped president is a false statement. He said that he would know at whose behest bibi Jagir Kaur was making the statement. Majithia said that the president who is going to be the president this time will be decided with the consent of the members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and it will be clear to all on the November 9th.

Bikram Singh Majithia said that today the issue of Bandi Singhs is important. Bhai Rajoana’s case is being heard on November 1 and he requests all the sangat to pray for their rights and for the release of other bandi Singhs.

He said that the Centre has taken some more decisions in other cases and has taken a tough stand against the Bandi Singhs and it should leave double standards and take a decision in favour of the Bandi Singhs.

On Ram Rahim’s parole issue, Majithia said that when elections come, he gets parole and it is the attitude of the present Haryana government towards Ram Rahim that is wrong and questions are raised on the government.
